About Me

Hi friends! My name is Abby Kuhlman. I am a college student at Trine University studying Exercise Science with a minor in Psychology. The end goal of my collegiate career is to achieve my Doctorate of Physical Therapy. I am a Certified Personal Trainer through the NCCA accredited program, ACTION. Maybe my background sounds a little like yours. I had been an athlete since I was a youngin. From tee ball to gymnastics to basketball to cheerleading to cross country and track and field, I tried it all. At 7 years old I began gymnastics and continued all through high school. In fifth grade I began track and field and continued through sophomore year of college. Like everyone for one reason or another, it came time to hang up my uniform. A chapter of my life was ending, but an incredible new beginning had started. I had lifted throughout my athletic career, but never seriously. Upon entering college, I started to get into a routine of weight training. I loved the feeling of being strong. I loved seeing progress. I was addicted (in a good way). Not only did I see tremendous physical progress, but mentally I felt so much improvement. At this time I was still participating in track and field, so lifting wouldn't always take priority. My time as a college athlete was incredible, don't get me wrong. I learned so much and made so many wonderful memories that I wouldn't' trade for the world, but I felt like I wasn't doing what I was truly passionate about. Walking away from the sport was tough, but at the end of the day, you have to learn to make decisions for yourself. I would love to share what I have learned through this experience with you and translate my struggles and lessons to your journey. My "BE ABOVE" Training mindset has aided my life in so many more areas that just the gym. Read more about what it means to "BE ABOVE" in the "My Approach" section.
